Commitments
With Kenya being the second largest tea sourcing origin, Twinings started a partnership with Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) to implement the HERhealth program in communities in their supply chain in this country. HERhealth aims to raise female workers’ health awareness and access to health services, particularly concerning reproductive health. To date, Twinings has reached 675 women and 551 men in and they are currently implementing HERhealth programs that reach 6,000 women workers and farmers, and will significantly expand its programming to reach 40,000 new women.
Twinings FP2020 Commitment
Twinings is committed to continuing to support programmes to raise women’s health awareness and improve access to health services, particularly concerning reproductive health and family planning, to smallholders and tea workers in Kenya. Twinings is currently implementing programs that reach 6,000 workers. They commit to significantly increase this program to reach 40,000 women—representing 60 percent of women in their supply chain in Kenya—in order to create healthier, empowered and more sustainable tea communities. Twinings will expand their work on HERhealth by working with producers, other companies, civil society and industry body, to achieve this goal and bring change for women in the tea industry in Kenya.
Twinings FP2020 Commitment Announcement
Twinings is extremely pleased to announce that it commits to expand its programme to raise women’s health, particularly concerning reproductive health and family planning, from 6,000 tea workers and farmers to an additional 40,000 women in its supply chain in Kenya by 2020, in support of Family Planning 2020.
